Meditation 3 of 7

Meeting the Wound Beneath the Heat

Listening beneath anger. Honor the deeper ache with courage and compassion.

Before you begin

Find a quiet place where you will not be disturbed. Sit comfortably — on a chair, cushion, or the floor. Let your hands rest open in your lap. Close your eyes or soften your gaze downward. Read slowly, or have someone read this to you. Pause wherever you feel called to pause. There is no rush here.

Breathe slowly and turn inward with courage.

Beneath anger there is often grief, fear, betrayal, disappointment, or unmet need. Today we listen beneath the surface.

Notice where the body holds the deeper ache. Throat. Chest. Belly. Back.

Ask gently: What hurt lives beneath this heat?

Do not rush the answer. Let it rise.

If tears come, let them be holy. If silence comes, let it be medicine.

You are not weak for feeling what was buried. You are becoming honest.

Place one hand on your heart and one on your belly.

Say: I honor the wound beneath the fire. I do not abandon myself here.

Breathe until the body feels witnessed.

Close by saying: What is true in me can be held with compassion.

Closing note

When you are ready, take one more slow breath. Gently open your eyes. Let the stillness remain with you as long as it will. You may wish to write in your journal before returning to your day.
